the Breath
Every day we are plagued with numerous thoughts consuming our minds. We think of the past, the present, and the future. As human beings, we are built to think. Our mind is the difference between us and all the other creatures that inhabit our world. These thoughts that occur can easily start to take control of us. They can take us down rabbit holes of thoughts to scenarios we conjure up in our heads. In order for you to control your thoughts, it is as simple as focusing on your breath. Whenever you are in a state of despair, a state where your mind feels as though it is overwhelmed, count backward from 10 and focus on your breath. Your breath is what keeps you alive, it is what will also keep you in control.
